I purchased a new Tunze 6105.
Right out of the box the propeller wouldn't run (even though the lights on the controller work).
Any thoughts on how to get this thing running?
Thank you.

I would open the pump (remove the front cover) and remove the propeller, they test run every pump before it ships so while I cannot say absolutely there would never be some weird DOA issue, it would be very unusual. The pump will detect any obstruction or running and stop, so the most plausible is their is some small packing debris or some air trapped inside and just taking the prop out and rinsing it should get it running.

I took it apart, there was nothing obstructing the prop, but washed it anyway.
The prop is very stiff if I try to manually spin it (not sure what is normal)
The pump did run for less than 10 seconds before it failed again.

That is the problem, the prop fits too tight, it should be only stiff by the magnetic field so it moves smoothly except for magnetic resistance and then tenses up between 2 poles. I am happy to send a new drive unit, you can also ream the one you have with a 9/64th drill bit to get up and running immediately, it will remove just a few thin tailings but that is all that should be needed. Please message me your address.

I appreciate your assistance, but I don' think it was the propeller.
I put the new one in (which arrived very quickly, thank you) and it was good for about 5-10 seconds and then failed again.
Took the pump out to examine the situation and noticed a burn through the back of the pump.

It is not burned through, that is the shaft the impeller spins on, they normally have a small hole in the back and the shaft stops about flush with the back of the pump. This is the norm since 2015, older ones did not have the hole all the way through but it was found the shaft could be fixed more rigidly if the hole went clear through. Does it not run?

Sorry, I just saw it stopped in some seconds. When you tried it, was it in water? They do stop if run dry.

Are u using the controller that came with the pump or are u using something different? If you are using controller that came with pump only, please post pic with settings you are trying so we can see what lights look like on it as well.
