Hey everyone,

I figured it was time to start a little tank thread and show what I’ve got going on. I’m currently running two reef tanks and they’re very different in purpose.

Main system
This is my 65 gallon display. I’m blanking on the exact brand name but it’s something like Aqua something. The system has roughly a 30 gallon sump. Filtration wise I’m running a UV sterilizer and a protein skimmer. Lighting is an AI Hydra 32. I know it’s a bit undersized for a 65, but I’m working on getting a bracket so I can add a second light. This tank is very much a baller on a budget build. A lot of the equipment has been pieced together from used gear, trades, and deals where I can find them.

I know that’s not always the ideal route, but with a baby on the way and a lot of time and energy going into building an app, I have to be careful with how I spend money right now. I’m trying to make smart upgrades over time instead of rushing things.

Secondary tank
The second tank is a 16 gallon Coralife BioCube. I honestly call this one my science experiment. I don’t baby it nearly as much as the main tank, but it has been absolutely booming. The photo I’m sharing is a bit old. It doesn’t really look like that anymore. I’ve been tossing a lot of frags in there like Kenya trees and GSP, and it’s kind of taken over. Some of the corals you might see in the BioCube photo have since been moved around, so it’s not a fully accurate snapshot of how it looks today.

I’ve been cycling corals between the two systems and experimenting with placement, growth, and overall resilience. It’s been really interesting to see how well some things do in a tank that gets a little less attention.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself properly and share what I’m working with. I’m always open to feedback, suggestions, or ideas, especially when it comes to lighting and budget friendly improvements. Looking forward to learning from everyone here and sharing progress as things continue to grow.

Thanks for checking it out.
