I have resealed tanks without issue in the past. Whatever will help you sleep at night is the path you should take.

If you can’t find the tank to fit your stand correctly these guys will build you whatever you want. They built my buddies tank and I’m passed impressed with it. They will be making my next build for sure.

Thank you all so much to everyone that helped me today. Reef2Reef people are pretty awesome!!!

I have industrial dehumidifier and fan running. I got all the sand out and rocks. it’s in a brute trash can.

I also stopped by Aquarium King up in Fort Lauderdale. I see they are always building tanks so I went in to ask about ordering premade or custom. I thought about it and ordered custom cube with 1/2” star fire glass on the 4 sides. Plus they will deliver it and put it on my stand. And it’s warranted for 3 years and that’s peace of mind!

At least the aquascape came apart easy in 3 pieces and will be somewhat easy to get back together.

When you say you “resealed” the tank what did you do? I feel like this is a misused term quite often. To reseal a tank you must remove all silicone, tank the tank completely apart sand/clean the edges the re silicone/put the tank back together. Unfortunately only adding new silicone to the seams does almost nothing at all to keep the tank together :-/. People are told time and time again to “reseal” the tank just by removing the old and just adding new in the corners, that just a ticking time bomb. People are also told to use “GE silicon 1” but again this is not the answer, while it completely reef safe once it cures it’s not meant to hold a tank together. It’s great to holding in sump baffles and things like that but definitely not to hold that much pressure.

I’m glad you got it all cleaned up (I hope with little or no damage) and even more happy that you were able to get a new tank ordered!!!!!!!!

For sure! A lot went right. Broke before I put in fish. I was home and woke up to the first bit of splashing. Didn’t break completely open letting all 60 gallons, sand and rock out. I was able to siphon out 20 gallons and get it below the leak. Probably only 20 gallons spilled.
And I had decided to installed GFCIs and one tripped. That would have not been pretty to jump in puddle of saltwater and get electrocuted.

I just don’t feel confident rebuilding a tank. If I had a good mentor to teach me how to do it correctly in person and lots of practice, I might try. but without the time to do this, nor having a mentor, I chose to get a new one with warranty.
I wish I had the knowledge, skills and confidence to reseal, but I am well aware that I don’t.
I know some people are very skilled at this and I have a ton of respect for those that are able to put glass together to create a tank.

That’s why I am buying a custom from one of these skilled professionals. And I’m pretty sure it’s not with hot glue gun or my wood floors are toast and my insurance will drop me when I make a claim;)

I am so so so so bummed.
I worked really hard renovating a used 60 gallon cube. It held water in the garage during test, set it up inside, tested again. Added salt and it was totally set up.

Last night woke up to sound of water... lots of water. One of the silicone joints gave way and water was pouring out. Tank is an old deep blue rimless 60 gal cube. I think about 20 gallons poured onto wood floor. Crawl space is underneath and not accessible.

we soaked up as much as we could and I mopped with bleach last night. Turned the AC down low and got out industrial fan to hopefully evaporate it fast.

I don’t have time to set another up now, started my Masters Program again after having a month off school. And I am working full time.

What should I do??? Any on water in wood floor, further setup, tanks is much appreciated and needed badly.

What kind of tank should I replace it with? Stand is 24x24 and I love the cube 24x24x24.

Do others trust Deep Blue? Maybe this one was weak from all the moving... I bought it used.

Do you think cycling the rock and sand in a brute trash can for 7 months when I will have time again is a good idea?

Could happen to anyone. I believe the leak may come from a damaged seal in the inside of the tank caused my improper use of scraper. You can check the leak atea to see it the seal is indeed damaged and if that’s the case, you can try to reseal it with new silicone. But please search youtube for an instruction on how to reseal old tank properly and don’t just reapply new silicone onto the leak area. Maybe some DIY gurus in R2R could provide a bit more insights into that. Happy reefing!

Your scape is very well done and the stand, the sump and the lights all looks like it would be a great show piece a cpl of year down the road. The leak is a bummer and it is just bad luck. as far as the leak goes, I did use a razor scraper before I set it up. I also probably stressed it trying to move it myself. I take full responsibility for the leak.

I am not giving up. And your vision of softies LPS and acros is what I am planning. I am hoping I get some awesome growth and want to have some layers with multiple colors and depth.

I am not gonna try to reseal this tank because Its beyond what I am comfortable with. I already ordered a custom tank and it will have a warranty:)
I’m so excited because the stand, plumbing, sump, rockwork are all still in good shape. only the tank is needed. That’s an easy fix.

Everything is cycling in a brute trash can while I wait.

So sorry! Challenges happen, unfortunately this is one of the worst ones that can happen. All I can say is take a break for a few days/weeks and then maybe get a new game plan and try again. I lost my full tank to disease and it SUCKED, but I am so glad I restarted.

In the middle of this, it felt like my reef world was ending. The next day, I realized a lot went right and most of my work was still salvageable.
I am so thankful for the R2R members like you and the many others giving me support and guidance.
