Hey I've got a 6x54 watt tek light over my 55 gallon reef and I'm just wondering what would be the ideal height off the top of the tank. I've got the mounting brackets at their highest setting right now, but just wondering if i lower the lights if I'll get some more benefits and better color/growth outta my corals than what I'm seeing right now.

Ok, thanks! I'm also kinda wonderin about coral placement then as well? Not really sure on exact names but Ive got some montis, chalices, zoas, acans, ricordias, and an acropora. right now everything is on the bottom of the tank on the sand.

I burned a lot of coral with that same light on that same tank.. ATI bulbs.. I ran it as high as I could :)

i have an 8 bulb fixture over a 9" tall tank....about 21" off the top, and all UVL bulbs

yeap the higher setting is good.

Yeah, Ive got the ati bulbs in there as well. How about coral placement with this setup? you think theyre better off on the sand then unless theyre looking like theyre unhappy and needing more light?
