Current FTS.

It's been two weeks since last DinoX dose. Tank looks even cleaner than before, corals look better than ever. No GHA, no dinos, no cyano, everything is perfect :)

I thought that digitata was a goner. Surprisingly, it is recovering well. Same thing with my urchin, it's doing much better now.

Current params:
  • Salinity: 34
  • Temp: 81.5
  • kH: 7.7
  • PO4: 0.25
  • NO3: 25
  • Ca: 480

And here is long awaited change. I've added SAND :) Ten kilos of Red Sea Pink, I've been planning to add from the very beginning. Tank with no substrate looks... wrong to me. Sure, that's much more functional, but weird looking.

But... Frankly, I'm not that sure this move made the look any better :) What do you think, guys?

Have found something special.

It looks like I have some Corynactis or Pseudocorynactis, lots of them. Almost invisible during a day, becoming much bigger at night. Tentacles are translucent with white "bubbles". Body looks reddish, less than 1" in diameter.

Have no idea what to do  Will watch them for a while.

I'm curious what is it?

It MUST be diatoms because:
  • I've added new sand recently
  • All the rock is clear, no brown stuff anywhere except sand
  • My snails aren't dying
  • My corals are fine
  • My nitrates are 10ppm+ and phosphates are 0.1ppm
  • It looks like diatoms for me
BUT...
  • It have some air bubbles (no stringy stuff yet)
  • It seems to decrease at nights
  • I've had dinos recently

Following! Looks like you’ve had trials and tribulations, but tank looks great. Love the aqua scape, looking forward to watching it grow.

And yeah. I’d say diatoms again.

Current FTS.

After four DinoX and two Bioptim+BioDigest doses tank looks like this. It seems that cyano is taking over dino.

My urchin is slowly losing its needles again and SPS are STNing. Don't believe it's DinoX treatment killing my birdnest and digitata though. Looks like they need much more flow.

Current FTS and some close-ups.

Few days ago I've decided to clean sand from cyano with huge 30% WC. Next day all the sand was covered with dinoflagellates again :) Can't use DinoX anymore, because this time it will kill my urchin for sure.

Nevertheless, tank doing fine. LPS corals are extremely puffy and look healthy. SPS... well, they will be happy one day, I promise :)

Current FTS.

It seems dinos are on the way out. No chemicals used, just turned off skimmer and reduced lights according to this article http://blog.coralwonders.com/en/dinoflagelados-en-el-acuario-marino. Still dosing Red Sea ABC+.

Dinos is being covered with cyano and then decreasing, that's how it looks to me. Have no idea what's still killing my urchin, but he's almost dead now. Is he just starving? Haven't seen any GHA for a month.

After three months co-existing, clowns have finally discovered this torch coral :)

Poor euphyllia doesn't like it though, much less PE than before.
