72x24x30h conversion to 72x30x24h

Hey i have a 220g. I hate the height, makes it hard to work in tank, ligthing must be stronger etc etc. Also not sure if its me but the taller stance makes the 24" width look more like 18". Speaking of which i feel the distortion of the thicker glass also makes the tank look more like 18" front to back.

I have access to low iron glass as i have a credit with local glass shop. This would help with the distortion and clarity issues.

I was thinking of removing the top and bottom brace...
Remove the front pane and completely silicone it to the back pane using white silicone (white barebottom look). This creates a new extra strong double pane bottom.

Then i would turn the tank over so that its laying on this new bottom. Now my new back wall is the former bottom which is tempered glass. Im wondering since this is tempered and only 24" tall can i skip bracing this pane?

Finally i would order a 1/2" or even 3/4" (trying avoid bracing) 72x24 sheet low iron glass for a new front pane.

This should produce the cheapest 72x30x24 rimless low iron tank ever!!!! LOL.

Has anyone ever done something like this? Any tips or advice? Also id like to keep it rimless and braceless. So will the tempered back which used to be the bottom of a 220g hold or does it need a brace?

Will the front 1/2' hold without brace?

This will go in the garage by the way so if it explodes 2 minutes after i fill it, it wont be the end of the world.

I would want to see this in action too. most of the time the high over 24" just ticked me off.

Yes Height does nothing for no one. Forces us to spend more money on stronger lighting, makes tanks heaviier in same footprint which deflects flooring, makes it impossible to clean or work, tank costs more.... etc etc.
