Guess I've been here long enough to do this, having a rough night so figure why not. Pardon the weak formatting.

I'm currently running a sumpless 65 mixed reef.
I've had some success, few failures. Recently I bought an apogee and realized how friggin low my par is. With my ungodly high mounting of two hydra 32s and a ai prime for good measure.

Then my reef octopus bh1000 almost burned my apartment down when it decided to overflow. (I know some people have good luck with these skimmers ad that's the info I searched for when I needed one. (We all love googling until we find the answer we want) , but I could NEVER recommend this to anyone every again unless your tank is in an old shed or something stupid and isolated that you want to burn down at a random unspecified time for the insurance money))

I decided this is going to be a lifelong hobby so I have to start to make some changes if I want to be more successful.

first thing I did was take the skimmer offline and replace the outlet it burned.

next I stopped testing nutrients. Stopped carbon dosing, and started piecing together equipment. Got a used crystal 30 from a friend and bought a curve 5. I took some disgusting cabinet doors out of a foreclosed property and refinished them.

I bought a 75 gallon reef ready and started building a stand I built it to fit a ten gallon ATO but when I realized how tight that would be under the stand, I went and splurged on an old school eshops 5
gallon

yesterday I bought an aquatic life hybrid fixture to use with my hydras. I decided this is the way to go if I want to do sps. (Which of course I do). Reefbrite is outlandish charging what they do for the stuff they sell. All shapes and forms. I could go full DIY and make something with these slept on AliExpress strip lights (which are great) but I'm tired and I'm not that smart. Tank after tank after tank of Acro guys, all run t5s. OR a few dozen led fixtures. After watching BRS test the lifespan of t5 bulbs and realizing they can go 14 months..., I pulled the trigger.

the ai prime is gonna get repurposed as a fuge light.

shout out to my wife for not murdering me yet. Here's some photos

Good luck with the new build!
But, I gotta ask....what did you keep under your stand that you had to padlock it???? Gold? Treasure??? :) :)
(I'm guessing it's to keep children out)

Bought a 4 foot hybrid fixture. Two blue plus one coral plus one actinic. Put some doors on the stand, some more paint. Yesterday I (my friend) plumbed the tank for me. Having never done it I figured he should help me seeing as he's done this probably a thousand times.
