8020 Accessories

Where are you buying 8020 accessories. I have my stand built but need to mount:
-Apex control board
-UV sterilizer
-return and drain line

Would love to see pictures of solutions you found too.

I wonder this to. I know tnutz has some very basic options.
but the 8020 catalog has tons. from my understanding to stream line the process contact a "dealer" so they can charge you more for what you want but aleast you will know it will work.

IDK maybe some one has a better idea? I hope so...lol

I built mine out of Faztek T Slot. Doors on all sides. The 80/20 lift off hinges were really expensive, but I can just lift the two front and two side doors off if needed. I cut sheets of 1/2" cutting board and mounted in the rear to hold equipment. On the upper right I mounted two pieces of T Slot. The UV is mounted and hanging from one, and the algae scrubber in the front corner is suspended from the other. Right side is a sump with filter roller, skimmer, etc. Left side is top off. The sump has return and feed bulkheads in the rear. The cutting boards only come down to about the height of the sump and ATO so the bulk heads stick through to the back with 90 degree barbs facing up. 1" black hose connects everything to up top.

To answer the question. T Slot, connectors, bolts I got from Amazon. 80/20 sells there. Got some other brackets and the hinges from Ebay. 80/20 sells there also. Since the Faztek T Slot has gotten a lot more expensive, the last time I needed a piece to mount the UV, I ordered directly from 80/20. Only problem with that is the amount of shipping they charge.

Are you in IT or controls? I ask because those isobar surge protectors are legit, but expensive. I use them in my day job, but even for me $50+ a pop for 4 outlets is steep!

Check Tnutz for basic profiles and fasteners, prices are better than 8020. 8020 ebay garage sales are good too if you don't need anything too specific and sometimes may have "blemishes" which I could never find once I got the profiles in hand.

Don't have a build thread. I built the stand about 7 years ago. Frame is 15 series (1.5") and doors are 10 series (1"). Door pieces are bolted together like this: . The hinges are 80/20 10 to 15 series standard lift off. They come in left and right sides and are about $26 a set. The door panels are composite aluminum, but acrylic or plexi would work. The door panels and base are covered with Instant Granite vinyl wrap (Amazon). I think I calculated it at around $800 one time. Wrap $65, hinges $100, 3/4" acrylic top $150, probably $250 in aluminum bar, and probably $200 on bolts and brackets. Each corner has two connections, inside corner brackets or gussets and bolted like the door pieces. I have magnets mounted to the door frames and stand frame that hold the doors closed. It's over built and seems kind of crazy, but I was stationed overseas at the time with not much to do and hating a pine stand I had. I slowly kept ordering the pieces and built it over about three months. Was getting the bars for $20 each shipped at the time. It was the hardware that killed me. I think I used 22 inside corner brackets at $8 each ($176), so I've got more than $200 in hardware actually.

Lol, no, retired Army. I just wanted something nice that I could trust to work. Was in Singapore at the time and the lightning storms were wicked. Had repeatedly lost cable boxes and modems to lightning and wanted the tank protected the best I could since I couldn't unplug it every time there was a storm. They are listed for $58 each right now. Worth it just to protect the Apex.

Does'nt look as cool but I did use t-slot to moumt my T5 on.
I siliconed the t-slot to the top rim and used the door sliders to sit the T5 unit on. I can slide it out of the way to service the tank. T5 sits 4" off the water.
Bought all on ebay at reduced cost and cut myself.
