I really like what you’re doing here. A real community outlook. Kudos.
I can’t participate because I live in Canada, simple as that unfortunately.
Where at? My sister lives in Montreal.
I think I’ve shipped to Canada before, but it’s been a few years so may be hard/impossible now.
I’m guessing you know better than me?

Oh man, just got my 15k lens, so happy with these photos, finally looking how the look in person just about!

I love the shot of the experiment frag rack.

of course the experiment will be filled with both daylight, and actinic shots for evaluation in each condition.
They will be under 3 kessils on a 48x24x12, running a custom schedule that I will post if I can figure out how lol.

ps great price on those crazy nice torches if anyone is looking.

Thought I’d post an overall update since we’re waiting a bit before the challenge starts.
So far we have had zero frag deaths EXCEPT:
1x frag stung by torch coral, RTN’d, roughly 2 days ago.
There were several frags that were cut from 2 colonies that RTNd in the first two days. These were kept in their own area. Everyone of these frags died. I have gotten a couple new Coral dips that I will try on next import to try and see if I can’t find better success in saving those.
Nothing else has died thus far, very happy with survival rates so far :)
As I’m fragging through colonies I’m ending up with knubby colonies with a lot of mass but just a few arms, not terribly pretty, but probably a really neat way to start in a big tank. In fact I plan to glue/putty all of these onto a rock structure in my 270 tank, and grow out from there but if anyone wants one, I’d do $50-100 on those depending on how much I leave behind, and you can kind of tell me what you want.

Picked up three pieces last night, can’t wait to see if they take off and thrive in my tank. Thanks again Zach! I’ll be back I’m sure! I need to get a lens for my phone too

Thanks to our participants thus far, this was our second order from BRS since starting the business books on Hubbell Brothers Reefing Co! Dialing in trace elements and magnesium in preparation for our experiment to step up my color development as much as possible.
I’ve noticed my reds have been kind of weak as of late, so I figured boron was a must.
Benny was excited, he’s my youngest of 5 boys!

Anyone have a Par Meter they’d loan me? I’ll provide the FedEx label to me, and I’ll send it back within a couple days, along with some sps frags!
I figure that’s better than paying to rent.

Just let me know on coral dips. I actually got 2 new coral dips in last week, one more pest preventative, one more of a “healing enzymes” for after fragging and such.
I was going to maybe do a group of 5-10 frags on my rack that I dip in the healing enzymes at the start of the competition, and see if there is a noteable affect?
Other than that I didn’t do any dip on the Acros thus far but encourage you guys to do whatever your normal practice is. Just include that information.
I’m working on building something that will manage our findings in a user friendly way. Actually sitting at a coffee shop waiting on my graphic design/photography/all things technology and marketing guy for my real estate business, and the last item on our agenda today is, what can he do reasonably quickly (and cheaply) that will work well for this.

My frags I’m tracking will be under Kessils with a Hybrid 4x54W T5 for this. I have radions on another tank, but decided I’m going to keep these frags in my shallow frag tank.
I do have a Par meter coming, so that’ll be cool to see where I’m at.
Really hoping to get like 10 other people documenting, which means we need a few more - if anyone is interested, let me know - I can make packs as low as $100 shipped and I can customize packs to what you’re looking for. Just a couple more days to start on Wed!!!!
