Just here to share my first ever saltwater build. I’ve been in the freshwater hobby for 10+ years and finally decided it’s time to get a little salty. I had a spare 90 gallon (48x18x25) laying around so I decided to start with that. Petco just so happened to be running $1 gallon so i went and grabbed a 40b to start my DIY sump. Had some extra lumber laying around from when I had to brace the floor for my 180, so I decided to build a new stand as well. Went with Exotic Marine Systems for my overflow, got the big guy as I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before i get rid of the stock in my 180 and switch that over as well. Still in the process but here’s a few pics of what i have so far.

Quick equipment update on the build.

2x ecotech xr30 G5 blues
Vectra M2 return
2x AI Nero 5’s
Reef Octopus Classic 202-s skimmer
2x BRS 300 watt heaters
Inkbird heating controller
Exotic Marine Systems Overflow
80lbs Nature’s Ocean dryrock

Finishing paint on the custom stand/canopy.
Still need to finalize aquascape and plumb the tank. Got 2 60 gallon barrels locally pretty cheap so I’m getting the water ready. Considering adding a piece of live rock from my LFS store once I’m wet to kickstart the process. Hope to have this up and running within a week. Now need to figure out what to stock

Quick update I’m almost done with the plumbing. Just need to attach return line to pump, and my 2 drain lines to the sump. Should have test water in by tomorrow to see how everything holds.

Quick update. Finally got the stand finished and painted, aquascaped and filled with water. Should have the canopy and lights on in a few weeks while I let this cycle. Don’t mind the cords I still have to put them all away I just wanted to make sure everything worked first.

Everything looks great!
Can I ask where did you get the pipe clamp on the left return line. I've been looking at the local big home centers but have not found any like that. I'm gelous btw, I've been pulling together hardware and building my stands and still do not have water running after 4 months. Getting close but seem s still far to go.

I got them from Lowe’s. I ended up putting one on all 4 of the pvc lines. They come separately let me see if i can find them for you. It took me awhile to get mine setup too so don’t feel bad

These are what I used. You need a plate and a clamp for each pvc you are looking to secure. They come in different sizes to fit whatever size pvc you have. You’ll also need to buy a 3/8 threaded rod, then cut to size. Pic doesn’t look like it came out that well. Let me know if you can’t read it
