90 Long Build! The Wait is Over!

My "Ugly stage" typically isn't bad especially compared to others out there. But also so many frown on issues starting a tank with dry rock, im 6 weeks in since water hit the tank and 3 weeks with lights on. Tank progress is on track for where I normally see it.

Starting with established live rock wouldn't really see this stage which might be why you haven't had much brown algae?

I always run dry rock. It gets brown algae but it's never a problem, and if anything I like diatoms because they grow on the rock, making it look natural but never goes out of control, I love it.

Oh yea its never a problem for me either, and I wouldnt say I love it per say but it is apart of the cycle and im good with it lol

2nd round of AF Life Source!

Seeing I'm currently not using a filter sock i just let the tank clear itself and keep all the mud in the system. Dosed the tank almost 8 hours ago when the lights were off last time took about 2 days to fully settle in its own

Sooo since I lost the anthias due to Uronema (didnt help I accidently received more than I could truly handle), I did a bleach bath with everything in the QT system for 3 days and set it back up 2 days ago. Well while the tank has been sitting there @NYAquatic had their live sale and I couldnt pass up the awesome deals

I will be putting my tang gang through QT this week when they arrive. Start off with 14 days of copper power at 2.5 followed up with 2 round of Prazipro spaced out 8 days in between treatments. 100% water change every 3 days to ensure constant clean water and removing anything accumulating in the QT.

And yes i love tangs like most of everyone else these are small enough im hoping to QT them all together and introduce at once in the main will cut down on aggression.

You should just pull the trigger and build another larger system anyways

I told the wife that when I hit my 1 yr mark with the 55gal she can expect the sudden appearance of a 90-100gal in the home LOL we'll see tho, its hard to dedicate the time veterinary school requires of me while also feeding the addiction

Some updated pics of the frags that were lacking color, after cooking under the t5s for almost 2 week's they are starting to slowly gain some color

The shortcake is still blah looking but has PE and maybe a small amount of color but nothing that noticeable

This mornings parameters are looking pretty on target still phosphate has dropped some since the last test so i dosed a small amount to ensure it doesn't hit 0. The test leaned more to the .03 level

Alk - 8.6
Cal - 450
Mag - 1440
Nitrate - 10
Phos - .03-.1 (dosed neophos to raise .02)

Sooo I changed up plans a little going forward on the tank.. I am ordering everything to start dosing Kalk for the PH benefits, and seeing the system is not consuming very much alk at the moment that will keep up with demand.

I have a 4 head doser on order so I will also incorporate All For Reef for my main additive starting off, then once Alk/cal starts being consumed at a high rate I can add in a calcium reactor like originally planned.

Also put an order in for my first large coral shipment Caught a pretty good sale going on so getting my stick itch haha

I built the rock structures from old pieces i bought locally after performing an acid wash. Check out page 1, I showed the build process
