Jeff Goldblum got it right. Life does find a way.

We've had this tank for maybe 2 weeks. I've been staring at every waking moment and when I just went down there, I saw the baby!!! I'm so excited. But scared now. If it's out during the day, my melanurus wrasse will get it. What do I need to do??? I'm freaking out!

I'll go first thing in the morning. Everything is asleep that would eat it. My only worry is my melanurus wrasse. Hopefully he'll be fine til tomorrow since I've been feeding them more variety.

Also...don't there need to be 2 gobies to make babies? And shouldn't there be more than one?

It looks to be about a week old. So scared for it.

STAY ALIVE TIL I CAN GET TO WALMART!

Yes, there need to be 2. Also, they lay eggs and have a larval stage. It's likely that one was hiding in your life rock when you bought it.

Ok. To clarify, I know it usually takes two to make babies...but I don't remember putting two gobies in there! I swear we just have the one. But apparently I'm wrong... [emoji38]

If you've got the tank since 2 weeks there is no way that this would be possible anyway. Even if you had 2. Like I said, they lay eggs and have a larval stage. The small one was probably hiding in your life rock and you have just now seen him.

It was an established tank we bought. Someone was moving and we lucked out! [emoji38]

I just got off the phone with him. He said there were 2 or 3 Gobies. I swear I only saw one. This has blown my mind! [emoji38]

Well, the plot thickens. It's maybe an inch long. I've been told it's not a baby. It may just be a juvenile that was already in it, it had just been in hiding for weeks. I see it every once in a while. I try to spot feed, but I think it wants some alone time now. It's so cute!
Also, I think I only have 2 gobies. The small one and Olaf. I should have paid more attention when we were adding the fish back to the thank after set up! [emoji38]
