Howdy gang.

10 years ago I lost my 110 reef tank to a 13 day, 11 hour power loss.

I found a 93g Marineland 'cube' with 'CornerFlo' overflow, stand, Eshopps sump, and under-powered return pump for only $200... the day after I put down my 18+ year old best buddy kitty.

In an effort to ring some beauty and smiles back to our home, I bought the tank. I'm intentionally building the hardware life-support system before adding water.

The wife [AKA "The Executive Producer"] and I painted the stand a "fun" color.
I bought the BRS 150 gpd 6-stage RO/DI system recently. I put it in the tank so I can see my progress - EVEN WITH DRY GOODS!

Here's the rest of what I plan to buy soon [a LOT of Amazon purchases]:

- API or Red Sea water test kits
- Refractometer
- 60-90 lbs of Dry 'Pukani' rock
- 60-80 lbs of various sizes arag-alive sands [1.5-2" deep]
- Kessil 360WE Blue Tuna [one for now - two if I decide I'm ready to move towards SPS] I understand I'll have some shadows and a halo of low par areas around the edge of my tank's 30"x30" footprint with one. I am fine with that. I will also be buying the 90 bracket mount system and controller for the light
- Finnex 500w heater
- Waterproof LED strip lighting for the inside of the stand
- Transparent mesh top

I know nothing good happens quickly - but I would like to get all my hardware taken care of ASAP.

Eventual stocking ideas include:
Mixed reef corals - beginner types for now

A dozen or so blue leg or scarlet hermits
A bowling team of snails [I have a thing for nassarius? snails]
An Emerald crab or two

Yellow Eye Kole Tang or Desjardini Tang [buy small; re-home before 8"]
4-ish Clowns
Lawnmower Blenny
Flame Angel or coral beauty
Six line or Yellow Coris wrasse

What I'd like some input from the group about?

Skimmer suggestions - A decade ago I had tremendous success with a SeaClone! I know there's better!
Wavemakers/Wave boxes - What suggestions for IN tank movement- Vortec look impressive. I used a SCWD device and loved what they did.
Return Pump - DC? What sort of flow is my overflow rated at?
Lunar/Moon lights - the Kessils don't have a moonlight setting as I understand. I used to have single while LED I had for my 110g. Any suggestions for something I could use with/on my Kessil?
Auto-top off/water storage ideas

I hope to get the return pump and plumb this bad boy real soon. I can't wait to get the cycle started.

Just placed an order for 70 lbs of BRS dry Pukani rock.
Plan to cure it using the traditional slow method. Bleach and acid sounds quick - but scary. I am risk adverse.

I soaked my pukani in a very light bleach soultion for 10 days then rinsed very well and cured for a few weeks after that. Pukani had a lot of dead stuff on it and took months after that before nitrates started dropping in the tank. If I could do it again i would have done an acid bath at the start, just my 2 cents.
