Here's a cool new coral from ReefGen! Leave it to the folks at RG to come up with yet another cool coral for your enjoyment!

The "Titan Acropora" is a bright green Acro species that forms a beautiful horizontal massive branching shape. The frags we offer are directly from Joe Yaiullo's 20,000 gallon reef system at The Long Island Aquarium. The mother colony is almost 2 feet in diameter, and has an awesome flourescing color under bluish lighting. Here is the frag:

And here are a couple of topdown mother colony shots taken by Laura Birenbaum of ReefGen from the manway over the 20,000 gallon reef:

This is a beautiful addition to the ReefGen collection, and will be a great addition to your reef. As you know, we love corals with a great story, and this one is no exception! It's not just another frag, it's a cool chance to own a lasting piece of reef culture, as Joe's tank is one of the most legendary of all reef systems in the world!

Enjoy!

Regards,

Scott Fellman

Whats the story? By the way beautiful coral!

The coral got its name "Titan", because it was occupying a large tract in the center of Joe's 20,000 gallon reef. In a tank full of competitive corals, this coral had the "chutzpa" to grow horizontally, taking over valuable real estate in a rather aggressive reef system. It's a coral worthy of respect! And, it's beautiful to look at! Attempts at getting a positive ID on the species have been inconclusive as of yet. It appears to share some characteristics with Acropora florida, but the jury is still out.

Being such a massive coral, it can take up a lot of space. On the other hand, with that color, it deserves some good space!
