A fun fact about YOU

I'll play along, I just started raising backyard chickens. Something I have wanted to do for years. Finally built my coop, and I have 9 young chicks eating and pooing away. Between my 3 reef tanks, my octopus tank, and now my chickens I keep pretty occupied.

I’m 64, and met my husband 51 years ago. We’ve been married 42 years, and he is my very best friend. We have 10 grandchildren. Here’s how that happened.

We have a 36 year old son who is the father of these7 beautiful kids. The oldest is 20. You can do the math!

He and my daughter in law, are in the minority for teen parents, though, and have been married for 18 years. We are very proud that they have been able to beat the odds!

But that’s not all. Through the years they have also adopted 3 special needs children from Bulgaria, so are raising 10 children in all.

I can say that @AlyciaMarie meatloaf is hands down one of the best things I've ever had. Homemade mashed potatoes, a piece of meat that's got killer seasoning and ketchup-based sauce (imagine ketchup, but it's got a lot more flavor), and topped off with some homemade crispy onion petals. This is truly an incredible meal

I need that recipe, lol. I want meatloaf tonight and it needs to look and taste just like that big old pile of love.

What does this have to do with reefing? Honestly, I don't know, but it does have something to do with you as a member of Reef2Reef! So let's take some time and learn about each other! What is a fun fact you can share about yourself ( I know it's like going back to grade school and having to share who you are with the rest of the class)? The fun fact can be anything! It can be as simple as you do X as your hobby, maybe it is some crazy place you have been to before, or maybe it is some exotic animal you keep. Anything goes here! You can list just one fun fact, or a couple you think people might find interesting.

I'll start first. I've been out of North America twice now to go on mission trips to Bolivia and Argentina. (The first two photos are of the southern tip of Argentina; the last two photos are of Cochabamba, Bolivia, where we were staying.)

I am a big fan of craft breweries! I will travel to go to a good one! Recently went to Michigan just to go to 2 of my favorites! Sorry, no photo ops here as I am currently at work!

I am too. There are a couple really good ones around the Philly and South Jersey area, if you're ever around here!

Add that for me too!
Are they in the grand rapids area?

You are not the only one that wants a meatloaf now, haha

I collect cookbooks. Ok, stop laughing...or yawning. One of my favorites is "An Army Wife's Cookbook with Household Hints and Home Remedies".

Did you know that if you run out of toothpaste, you can make "Tooth Wash" by dissolving 2 ounces Borax in 3 pints of warm water. "It preserves and beautifies the teeth", it is stated.

Or you can make "Harsh Soap" with one gallon of hot water to one box of concentrated lye and two gallons of water to five pounds of grease. (Take note all you bacon lovers.) Just make sure you have your Showa aquarium gloves on when using.

That's awesome! As I said in an earlier post, I started really young myself. My wife and I had 3 daughters before I was old enough to buy a beer, and they have all grown up to be amazing women, with amazing husbands and have given us 6 amazing grandkids. Life is good.

YES! Actually Grand Rapids is exactly where we went! The breweries we went for are Bells, and Founders! Those are 2 of my favorites!
It was not hard to figure out lol. There are a lot of breweries in that area.
I really like Darkhorse in the very south west tip of Michigan. Detroit puts on a beer fest every year and youll get about 30-40 breweries there most from Michigan couple from surrounding states. Its pretty epic.
