walk into a bar. No wait, a 2.5gal "QT" tank...

  • Water is now consistently green
  • 1/3 of the tank is thriving thick-filament Chaeto
  • GSP's been retracted for days
  • Sinularia is bent over and has yet to open polyps

  • Mushroom is expanded and doing well
  • Candy Cane is "thriving"
This is my first ever purchase of corals, I got all 4 for 40 bucks, did a QT dip with Bayer and then put them in the 2.5 gal to wait for any pests etc.

My question: Is the GSP dead? Is the Sinularia dead? Why won't the GSP or Sinularia open their polyps? Why are the Candy Cane and Mushroom doing great while the other two soft corals are lifeless. How can I tell if a coral/frag is actually dead?

I can provide pictures if you would like but the turbidity of the water makes it difficult.

Thanks for your time and advice!! If I have to throw some out, I will, I just want to see if I can salvage the Sinularia or GSP...

Just give it time, corals sometimes take awhile to open up after a dip

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
