A Loss and A Gain

Howdy Y'all

Last Friday I lost my grandmother. It was going to my grandparents house in Corpus Christi in the summers that brought me into the reefing world (in addition of course, to the love of animals, science, and everything involved). She was an awesome lady and I'm going to miss her very much.

Sunday though - my wife gave me our first baby: James! He came healthy, and without too much complication. I could not ask the universe for more. A blessing!

I don't Facebook (They're the devil. Straight up. I'll spare y'all my extended rant :p), so I hope no one minds me using R2R lounge this way - R2R is my social media!

Congrats... and my sympathy.

I'll give you my one bit of advice for new parents...

No matter what's going on in your child's life, no matter what 'stage' their going through, from changing diapers, to finding the word 'no', to teenage rebellion... no matter how annoying, no matter how much sleep your missing, always remember this: It won't last long, and you'll miss it when it's over. Children are a true blessing, a joy, something to be treasured, every single day. As a new parent, you're looking at a LONG road ahead... from the other side, I can tell you that the road is NOT long. Blink, and you'll miss it. Don't let that happen.

I've never seen such a tiny, soon to be reefer before! Congrats on the new healthy edition and condolences on your recent loss. Life has a strange way of finding a balance for us.:)

Thanks for the kind words y'all in both respects. Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll show some interest in reefing when he gets older. If not, no biggie, because I'll take an interest in whatever drives and motivates him :). A chance for him to grow is a chance for me to grow along with!

Sorry for your lost and congrats on the baby. Cherish every moment because time really does fly. Before you know it your baby will be grown and you will be looking back trying to figure out where the time went.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my grandmother the day after our daughter was born in 2015. But having her and my spouse helped me get through it. Congratulations on baby James. We are waiting for our second which is a boy this time around and his middle name is going to be James.

Gratz y'all - This is my first and mind you: I'm an only child with zero exposure to infants. Its all terrifying lol. Lil' James is both really laid back and prone to quickly escalating hanger just like me haha!
