Yes, you're right — the LX8 isn't a very cheap high-power aquarium LED compared with some other solutions. But competing on price was honestly never our first goal. We simply wanted to build the best possible product with the most benefit for the user.
Consider that it's not just the brutal 250 W of power — which can of course be turned down when it's more than your tank needs. The main point is the complete, wide spectrum, made possible by 12 independent LED channels, with accents placed exactly where you want them. On top of that, we use reflectors instead of other secondary optics: this gives the highest optical efficiency, great color mixing and spread, and eliminates the "disco effect."
Plus a lot of other features — a dedicated, color-adjustable low-power moonlight, tons of simulation functions, WiFi, a dedicated radio link between the lights, and USB as a backup.
