Black Bar Chromis are some of my favorite. I only have a 30 gal tank. I had three for months, but when I added another fish, two jumped on me! The last one seems to be doing well though.

I originally got three but one died in the bag and then one of the others was killed by the third so I just have one and it takes him a while to adjust to new fish so I will likely end up rehoming him

Don’t get me wrong tho, I think they are awesome fish and are definitely up in my top 10 but I just don’t see him doing well with the filefish

I get it. I'm just in the dreaming/dropping hints to my wife stage of planning a larger build. I keep thinking with a larger tank, I could have a better chance keeping a larger number of them. Before I added the last fish, the three were doing great. I got them at a really good quality LFS, so I was pretty sure they would be in decent health. (Even that wasn't actually true, I bought 5 and two got popeye and I didn't have a a place to QT them, so I consider myself lucky that the other three did as well as they did.)

Before my heater broke, I had a few and a pair of Vanderbuilt Chromis that were doing really well too. dang heater!

Good luck convincing the wife haha.

I love unusual damsels and chromis. Chromis acares is a fish that I would love to own as well as Vanderbilt chromis. I’m sorry to hear about your losses though, I hate issues like that.
