I'm interested in adding a door to one of my lids to access a frozen food feeder. However here is the deal... I have Octo Aquatics lids (nice and not cheap). Aesthetically I wish these portals came in clear, but my biggest issue, and my question, is what will inserting this and cutting out the center do to the rest of the netting? Will it become loose and sag? Might it add too much stress and break some netting? I can test on an old DIY lid, but it won't necessarily paint a clear picture whether it seems to work or not.
I like the design of this in that it is round and has 8 screws to hold the rest of the netting in place. There is another 3-D printed door option, but it is square and has only 4 screws, and I don't see how it could really keep the rest of the netting tight. Anyway, I don't want to purchase a new left-side lid just to add a feed door, especially since I might always decide to go back to thawing and feeding. Any shared experience would be greatly appreciated.
