About to Purchase a 20g AIO Cube

Been researching the many company offerings for a 20g cube (this the largest tank I have space for). I'm leaning toward the Red Sea nano G2 max because of the compleatness of their kit. Waterbox is my second choice, but to compleat the set up with similar equipment as RS, the total cost would be about the same. So my thinking is to simplify the purchase, Just buy the RS compleat kit and save the issue of searching for all the extras needed to compleat the set-up of the WB tank. Thoughts and advice welcome. BTW this will be my first attempt at a salt water tank (I had a 90g fresh water that I had to sell when I moved). Thanks in Advance..... JOHN

i guess i try to stay far away from red sea because of all the failures i read about. but maybe others will chime in

Many members here would suggest that you steer clear of Red Sea, they seem to have a high rate of failure. Have you looked at Innovative Marine? If you need help selecting equipment that's not included with the tank, members here can help you with that.

OK, I have decided on a Waterbox 20g AIO cube. This size tank and stand will fit nicely in my small livingroom. When I called Waterbox CS to inquire about when this would be available (it's on back order) I was told "about the end of August". I was then told the TANK is in stock, but not the cabinet. Soooo. I started searching the internet and I found a cabinet made by Landen. It has the identical dimentions as the Waterbox cabinet. It is a bit less expensive too! However, I can't find much info about them. Has anyone here had any experience with Landen aquarium cabinets?

OK Here we go! The Lenden cabinet from Amazon for my new Waterbox 20g cube got delivered today! Let me share a few tips about the assembly. But first,,,, the quality of this cabinet is very good. What I like most about it is the back panel. It is a one piece panel, with just a 4x9" opening at the top that aligns with the same opening in the top panel. The one piece back panel makes for a VERY solid cabinet. Eliminates wobble. The assembly itself is easy if you have assembled cabinets with cam-locks before. The instructions are just pictures. No written words! Here's my tips. When you get finished with the cabinet assembly, leave the door off for now. This is because if you think you installed all of the cam-locks... you probably haven't! Flip the cabinet over on its top and check for no missing cam locks. Then on its sides and check if there are any more missing cam locks. I had left out three! Finally, the bottom feet (there are six)! They are NOT adjustable for leveling the cabinet. However, in the parts bag for the hinges are small, black, stick-on dots that are to cushion the soft close door. You can use these to level the cabinet. Just stick them on the bottom of the non-adjustable feet where needed to level the cabinet. Hope this helps. And don't be afraid to purchase a Lenden cabinet. They really are quite nice (I got a white one).

You don't think they will collapse under the weight of the tank when filled,? I would probably use composite shims.

Good idea going with WB. I have both WB and RS but one RS tank, a Reefer 170 is on my scrap pile after a seam failed.

Yeah... I had that thought too. But you have now convinced me that those rubber foamy things are NOT a good idea under the cabinet. If anyone else reads my assembly post, please forget about using those foamy things to level the cabinet. I have some composite shims left over from a toilet install a while ago. Those shims are stepped too, so they will work well. Gonna do it right now before the water goes in tomorrow! Thanks exnisstech....... JOHN (I'm a grumpy old man too!)

Agreed. Cade is nice also. I looked at Cade products during my search for a 20G cube cabinet. They do not offer one! Also, I got the impression that Cade is the gold standard for aquariums and cabinets. Problem is though, they are EXPENSIVE..... Beyond my budget anyway.

I had a Waterbox 20g cube on order at PETCO but they gave me a three week delivery date! I live in Florida where Waterbox aquariums are made. So I canceled my Petco order and called Waterbox and ordered my aquarium direct from them. It arrived two days later via FedEx.
