So long story short I love bowerbankii's but have a miserable track record keeping them happy... Let alone alive. I decided to try again and I am experiencing the same issues. I have no issue with most other types of corals. After a few days they usually start to recede showing septa and slowly wither away to nothing. I have plenty of other mussids that do perfectly fine in the tank. Have acan lords that do well in addition...

Parameters are all in line.
Dkh 7-8
Ca 380-420
Ph 8.3-8.5
Po4 undetectable with Hanna meter
Nitr is 0 but trying to raise some ( sps look better I think)
Mg is 1300-1400 when I test

I run carbon and gfo

4x 250w 20k radiums

Flow isn't too crazy 2 mp40 Eco an a barracuda gold as a return/cl

Oh and the tank is a 240 long

Can't really think of anything else relevant except for live stock but it's very numerous to list - basically a mixed reef.

any ideas or suggestions?

I also have a nice 6x8 cherry red bowerbankii colony that was send to me by error if anyone is interested in saving it from me ! Can txt pics if your curious.. No room for it.

Thanks

did you try watching it at night and see if there was anything out of the ordinary going on?

reply

Yea thought of that. Nothing is munching is.. far as I can tell. Besides what would only eat bowebakii's and nothing else?

they eat like pigs as usual.. whatever you give them they eat. Most musids do..

does anyone know more detailed information about flow/lighting requirements of these corals? Or have kept them long term?

what other Acans have you had success with? any lords or echinatas in the tank?

also- any favia's or favites in the tank that you've had success with?

any pygmy angels?

weird i can keep these but kill my lords
good luck

Also how far down under the bulbs do you have them? I know someone that has them and keeps them under t5's but around 24" down in a 180 gallon, so I would imagine low light.

Where do you have these placed in the tank? Also, can you post a pic, including where it is in the tank. That would help us to be able to help you. Also Are they positioned in close proximity to the 40's?
