Acan feeding

I have what may be a stupid question... I sometimes feed my acans small pieces of scallops. The way they are positioned I can't feed all of the heads individually. Does the whole colony share the benefits of the food, or do I have to feed each head? I found places that say they share the benefits, but wanted to know everyone's thoughts. Thanks!

As far as I know, no one truly has an answer to this. I would assume it shares the nutrients with the rest of the coral

I think it helps the whole colony but I can't prove it.
