Don't be afraid to try moving them in higher light. That's what happened to me. My green Acans are doing great in lower light, red Acans are mid level and doing better than when they were in the bottom of the tank. Just my 2 cents

I direct feed a little three times a week but I also see that some of my daily pellet food for the fish inevitably ends up in the Acan's hungry "mouths" which I think helps!

My tank was pretty much a SPS tank,,, I have since made it a pretty much dedicated acan tank,, I have lots of them,,, mounted to my LR like other reefers mount others corals to their LR ,,,, a few chalices on the sand bed,, a few other types of corals on the LR,,, but mostly all acans on the rock. I am not a acan expert,,, I am learning as I go,, and have lost more than a few along the way.

I feed my acans once a week with Fauna Marin pellets,,, every time I place a order with BRS,,, I add a bottle of Fauna Marin to the list,,, wither I need it or not :) I am always aware of phosphates in my tank ( 150g 48x30x25 ) due to my acan feeding,,, I test phosphates like SPS growers test Alk. & Calcium :) I try to do a small water change (10g ) once a week,, usely 2 days after my coral feedings,,, I also keep tabs on just what the GFO in my reactor is doing,, test test test

I am running AI Hydra lighting over my tank,,, my white LED's started out at around 46% ... this was way to much for the higher up acans in my tank,,, I now have that white LED percentage down to 30% ,,, this has turned out to be the sweet spot for my tank,, I might could get another percentage or two out of the settings,,, for now I am leaving it where its at.

Acans don't like a lot of flow I have learned,,, they will close up and just die on you,,, are detach from their base and be lost to the tank. My answer has been to raise my two MP40s as high as I can,,, I have the speed set on 3 dots,,, not much flow at all in my tank.

I also have very few fish in my tank,,, not saying you can't have many fish if you have lots of acans like I do ,,, for me its all about the acans,,, the less food I have to put into the tank for the fish,,, the more I can feed my acans and keep my phosphate battle manageable.

I just got my first Acan about a month ago at a frag swap and feed it reef frenzy a few times a week after lights out. It started with 1 full head and 2 halves. After a month the 2 halves are full now and I can see 2 new mouths growing. It eats like a hog, I actually showed my wife tonight because it's just amazing how quick it grabs and eats food. I just assumed that was normal growth.

Have I got a video for you regarding acans and flow. If only I could post the vid from my phone...
