Do they split as means of reproduction? I'm not 100% sure on this question. One of my heads has attached to a small piece of rock and has pulled some of its tissue with it. I haven't messed with them, and as far as I can surmise, neither has any of my fish. I'll post a pic soon.

I have read where some have been know to spread onto a close rock. However it never said if the one that spread actually separated to form new colony, like a zoanthind. Or just did it to anchor the mother colony. Like a SPS will encrust to anchor the colony. As stated above they generally send up pups along the outer edge of skeleton.

I always observe them spreading, forming baby polyps around the perimeter.
