I have an acan frag that i got about 5 months ago. Two vibrant orange centers. Yesterday one center was completely gone. No remnants no disturbance. The other is still the same. Any thoughts.

Alien abduction? Sorry, I'm obviously kidding, but we will need a lot more details from you. Tank age, livestock, parameters, etc....

We need a lot more information on your tank
Tank parameters
Lighting
Flow
Age of tank
Anything that could be bothering it

Photos before and after?

Wasnt looking for the whole parameters thing. With the aid of a knowledgeable aquarist i determined that one of my fish(likely the Coral Beauty) had a snack. I also only just found the thread again. Learning how to navigate is a little less i tuotive than i am used to. I did want the parameters necause i have the numbers and let a coral specialist check them.

Are you sure there acan was fine the day prior? Whatever happened - you are sure it happened in one night ?

Any dwarf angelfish would be on my shortlist to blame.

Do you have shrimp?

I tried a beauty once...lasted 3 days lol. I switched to a masked swallowtail and even that being reef safe she still prefers to eat out of lps like a fishbowl. Major pain in the but and need a ton of feeding cages which takes abt 45 minutes to spot feed all acans, chalice and meats. Found out soaking mysis in a little AB+ changes the flavor for her so now she stays away. Good luck and looks like your choice will be beauty or acans if thats it.

I have fish that will occasionally nip an acan. Or eat them. But not others. Regardless acans in my tank are a gamble. Some grow into full colonies. Some get eaten.

There are some that I just can’t risk anything happening to them. I put this in the tank to protect them

Bonus - keeps my shrooms from wandering too far
