I was not too successful in keeping my first 2 clams (derasa 2-3" and Tahitian 5-6"), both die during second week of acclimation. :squigglemouth:

I setup the QT tank the morning I picked up both clams. Only parm that I check was the salinity. I'm running a minimum HOB filter from petco, a small heater and T5. My question is does the QT tank need time to cycle before bringing purchasing clams.

The Tahitian die first and a day later the derasa die.

I fed the clams phyto once a day.

I'm not going to purchase a Tahitian, as I found out afterwards, they are hard to raise, but I would like to raise a clam in my tank.

What could I have done differently. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Did you use water and sponges from your DT? Because yes I do believe the water and filter need to be cycled. I am not neccesarily saying that is what killed them, but yeah.

I placed them in my QT tank, based on the 'sticky' in this forumn prior to placing them in my DT using freshly made batch of saltwater using RO/DI to the correct salinity the morning I picked up the clams.

What type of lighting do you have? I don't feed my clams and just make sure the water parameters are good and the lighting is good.

In the QT tank, I was using a T5 light, but my DT has 2 vega's color
