Why? This growth sort of happened overnight. By overnight I mean in the last 3 months. 90 gallon with two MP40 on either end. This is technically placed where the two MP40's streams would collide. Could that be it? Or is it just a weirdo? I still have the reefbreeder on this tank for now. Blues max at 72%, whites 13%. Last time I checked Par it was 410 in this spot. This stupid thing just insists on growing out like a shelf. I have my new Orphek but other than making sure it works, I have not put it over this tank.

That looks like a Montipora digiata right there, that explains the erratic growth of it.

Regardless of what coral it is....

Flow dictates the flow pattern of corals....they do their best to grow "into" the flow. You can figure that's to maximize feeding, respiration, et al.

Looks to me (and sounds from you) like that coral is in a zone with little or no laminar flow, so its growth is reflecting that.
