Hello fellow SPS reefers,

Have kept a Fiji tricolour A.valida since March 24 and it's been an interesting journey so far.

Hope to slowly get rid of the brown colouration in the valida's branches.

I think I have gone as far as I can with achieving and maintaining low nutrient and stable water parameters.

Thinking of trying Zeospur2 to get it to expel some of its zoox.

Tri-colors are notorious to brown out or be fussy color wise. When they are situated and stable for a while they will color up beautifully though....no zeo needed.

I have another tricolour valida from Bali waters that has been a lot easier to colour up. Came in brownish and now it's infused with purple hues :) Had it for about 4 months now.

I find that mine likes a lot of light to color up

That's mine on the right:

That's a beautiful mature colony that you have there.

How long did it take you to grow to that size?

My Fiji tricolour is near the top of my rockscape and it has encrusted on to the rock work. My Bali tricolour is on the close to the bottom near my tank's sandbed.

South Pacific (Fiji and Tonga) SPS corals are notoriously finicky so I cross my fingers and hope my valida piece continues to grow and improve.

It grows fairly quickly for me. That is about 2 years old and started from a 2" frag and has had quite a few frags taken from it. Here it is about a month after I got it:
