Howard,

I love your tank and i´m returning to BP once again and you are absolutely my reference!

Two questions:

1 - The BP reactor exit is near the skimmer bomb? or the exit pass first from main tank until enter in the skimmer?

2 - why do you dose zeobak daily? It helps preventing cyano? I´m asking that because in the zeovit zeobak for example it´s dosed just 2 ou 3 times per week.

Thank you and congratulations for the amazing tank you have.
João.

We need an update!

This time I've bad news to update.

My tank, after 6 years, the silicon seam starts to show its age and slowly pulling apart, as you can see here:

Now I'm scrambling to try to reinforce the tank while commissioned a new one built as soon as possible, before the whole thing falls apart. This is the image I took with my phone just earlier, everything is still doing fine so far.

The main tank is the same dimension as the old one, and the sump is 4" longer.

Getting ready to start working! It's gonna be a long night.

Glad everything went well. Corals and aquascape are beatiful!

Question: when you upgraded from 20 to 65gal, how did you match the DKH with new 45 gals of salt water?

I'm not the OP, but I use Muratic Acid to lower the DKH for my Instant Ocean mix.

Well I upgraded it 6 years ago and I didn't have a lot of corals back then, what I did, which is the same thing I did yesterday when I moved to a new tank, is that I saved up a lot of water with several water changes, so when I upgraded to the new tank I just dump all the water I've been saving up, so I don't have to use a whole lot of new water. This way my dkH is kept relatively stable after the change.

Any updates?

I was just about to post an update when this came up! ;Woot

Can you believe it, this year marks the 8th year of my tank! After the last update, replacing the tank with a new one due to the silicon seam getting aged, the tank was doing fine.

After living at the same apartment for over 14 years, my wife and I've decided to move to a new apartment. This is the last photo of my old tank before it was taken apart and all rock/sand/coral/fish moved to my new tank.
01.jpg

It took a very long day to move everything over but so far they're doing alright! :)

Now I'm still unpacking all my stuff at my new apartment, so please don't mind the mess in the back. :p

02.jpg

It's a 4' tank, the dimension of the main display tank is 48" x 22" x 20", along with the sump and secondary frag tank, it's around 110 gallon.

04.jpg

Here's a closeup shot of the secondary frag tank, it's not done yet, I need to get some eggcrate acrylic plates so I could put more frags in this tank.

03.jpg

And this is the sump, I've to cramp everything up into that tiny space!
