in the process of looking at various options for baffles in a glass sump, i came across this video
for those who do not want to look at the video - summary : gorilla 100% silicone sealant came out on top

to give the refugium some light isolation, i was considering black acrylic baffles. now, i do understand that sticking acrylic to glass is usually a bit tricky, but for baffles in a sump this should do? i would most probably use glass for most, but would like the flexibility of using acrylic if need be...

does it seem legitimate? perhaps bonds better if you roughen up the glass, or the acrylic on the sides touching the glass?

thanks
sk

Because silicone doesn't stick to acrylic as well as it does to glass, I use Momentive RTV.
It's suppose to be one of the better silicone adhesives.
Any baffles or overflow boxes I've used it on ( it been several sets) have held for many years and counting.

The sumps I build on my own, I only use glass tanks and acrylic baffles. The best I've found, and holds like grim death, is this one:
Silicone Plastic.jpg

You can find it at HD, but not with the other caulks in the paint department. You have to got to where they sell acrylic sheets, and you find it there. You can't pull this off acrylic once it's cured. And aquarium safe (once cured). I'll guarentee it will work with acrylic baffles in glass tanks.

Yeah the GE 100% Silicone works well with acrylic and glass. It just costs a lot compared to other silicone caulk, $15 for a 10oz tube.
