I think I'm going to add 2 6500k bulbs to my setup to see if I can get better growth and true colors out of my sps I was thinking about adding a true actinic in the mix also what would be a good combo with 6500k bulbs ? I have a 6 bulb sunpower I was thinking these 2 combos

2 6500k
4 blue plus

Or
2 6500k
3 blue plus
1 super actinic

I run 3 blue pluss and one 10k bulb in my fixture. I like the crisp white of the 10k over the 6500k.

I run 4 x 6500 (and 2 actinic) and for as much as the 6500k tubes are hyped, I am not real happy with they way my reef has responded or coral growth.
Cheers! Mark
How long have they been running? I'm on the fence between 6500 and 10k I tried heavy blue and just don't like the look all day want my blues and pinks to show better also

In June I installed:
2 - 10,000k
2 - 6,500k
2 - Actinic
I was really unhappy with coral growth and how dirty my rocks and sand was with some kind of red turf algae. So at Christmas I switched to:
4 - Tropic 6,500k
2 - Geismann super Actinic
The overall look of the reef did not get any better. It just looks really dirty. This tank is plumbed together with 3 other reefs. Thay all look better than this one. The reef in the system with a MarsAqua 300w LED looks a lot cleaner and the coral growth is better with better coloration. My take-away is that maybe T5s suck? If all the reefs are plumbed together, then an issue with 1 has to be lighting?
Cheers! Mark

Though my fixture is a 6-bulb Powermodule, for T5s, I’m running (3) b+, (2) ATI actinic, and (1) Giesemann 6500k and like the way it looks. Surprisingly white, even with my white LEDs running at only about 30% of my blue LEDs.

This one for the win. I love that look
I know your a big fan of the 6500k bulbs I'm at a point where I want a more natural shallow water look I'm over the saturated blue look I want to actually see pink when I look at a pink birdsnest lol..

I meant to post a picture as a reference for the lighting I described ((3) b+, (2) ATI actinic, and (1) Giesemann 6500k). True, these also include the Powermodule's LEDs, but I run my whites at only about 30% of my blues so without the LEDs, it would likely look whiter. If this is too blue, running (2) 6500ks would definitely add more white/yellow.

I I had a series of pictures from another forum showing some different ambient "Looks" with various bulbs including a G.Midday 6000k (old bulb that is now replaced by G.Tropic 6500k)

The main problem with the pictures is that I did not turn of my LEDs, so they contribute more and more to the blue spectrum as shown in program below.
Anyway... could be interesting for some of you....

Copy/paste from said forum-thread:
*********************************

FWIW:
Took some pics today as the bulbs turned on:

First pic with 2x "Giesemann Actinic Blue" (roughly same as ATI blue+)
Second with 2x blue 2x 6000k bulb
Third with 2x blue, 2x 6000 and 2x actinic
Fourth with 4x blue, 2x 6000, 2x actinic

Also, the LEDs are ramping up during the start up sequence, so LEDS contribute more and more in the blue spectrum as time passes. (Screen-shot of program also added)

Overall, the pictures got too blue, especially the last picture with all bulbs on. (The sand is white-white; not blue) Id say the third picture is the closest to match my tank with all lights on and LEDs ramped to full. (Pic is still a little too blue though)
Although far from 100% accurate, at least it may give people interested in the bulb a rough estimate what the 6000k bulb does. It is very, very yellow compared to anything I've used before, but with enough blues it is awesome.
