Adding a tailspot blenny

Hi everyone,

I have a fluval 13.5 with two clowns, one six line wrasse, 1 Mexican turbo snail, 3 hermits and one cleaner shrimp.


I see hair algae coming over my rocks and glass, I was thinking about adding a blenny eventually. It will be a good idea? Or I am pushing a lot of bioload?

I do water changes every week, good water parameters. I am concern that since the six line wrasse is semi aggressive (not with my clowns) it might fight with the blenny.

I would recommend removing the six-line. They're considerably active swimmers and are not recommended to be housed in tanks of your size. Because his removal is inevitable, it's best to go ahead and take care of that now.

My LFS won't take him back :( What should I do? I feel bad for him. The guy at the LFS recommended me the six line and I followed his recommendation but now reading so much about him like I am scared about his behavior.

Sell him, trade him, give him away. Post it up in the marketplace both here and on any local clubs you have. Surely someone will bite.

I would stay away from your LFS if the guy honestly recommended that fish to you and for the size tank you have. They are known to become real nasty. I made that mistake many years ago and I try to discourage many others from going down the same path. They really are a beautiful fish.... ;Blackeye I completely agree with tsouth on this one. Re home the fish as soon as you can. You can try local reefing clubs or try to find someone with a flatworm problem. I am sure they will be happy to accept the six line.


If you remove the six line. I dont think you will have an issue with the bioload. I love my tailspot blenny. Awesome fish with a very interesting personality. They are known to nip at some soft corals so make sure you supplement if needed. Good luck!

I returned the six line to the LFS and he gave me a bicolor blenny instead. He apologized but he got confused with the gallons that my tank is. Thank you so much for your opinion!!
