Hello! I’ve been trying to fine tune the levels in my aquarium now that I’ve got my new trident up and running. I’m aiming for alkalinity of 8 and calcium of 420. I’ve had chronically high calcium levels, even as high as 540. Therefore, I’ve been dosing alkalinity while letting the calcium levels fall. But I noticed that every time I add alkalinity the calcium will also increase. Is this typical? What causes this affect?

Note: I’ve been dosing BRS soda ash and Brightwell Alk 8.3
