Adding some new fish to my tank!

So I have decided I want to add some more fish to my display. I have a nuvo 40 with 2 clowns and a royal gamma. I want to add a leopard wrasse and lawnmower blenny. My issue is, what is the best way to add these guys without my clowns going crazy and trying to kill them?

Leopard wrasse is probably a bad idea. They are primarily pod eaters and a 40 is not big enough to support the pod population needed to sustain the wrasse.

I would have to agree that putting a wrasse would be a bad idea. Also for adding new fish. Ive tried adding them in the dark with the light off for a day that way the other fish doesn't really notice it in there until the next day. Ive added a fish before during the day and my clowns kept attacking it and killed it. So my local store gave me the dark tank idea and its worked ever since.

A 40 gallon is small for a pair of clowns. The female can get protective of her space which can mean the whole tank.

Ok then lets change the question. Im trying to raise my Nitrates so my sps gains better coloration. What would be some recommendations?

Feed your fish heavier or more often.

Adding fish will increase both nitrates and phosphates. Feeding more will add both nitrates and phosphates.

Leopard wrasses graze all day long and can decimate a pod population in a 40g tank quickly. However, that doesn't necessarily eliminate the possibility of a leopard wrasse in that size tank. Finding a leopard wrasse at an LFS that is eating well, and feeding frequently once in your possession can offset the need for pods in the tank.
