Hi all,

Any suggestions or advice regarding adding supplemental lighting in an existing tank with some acros? All varieties are hardy, but the bar I would be adding is a 2ft Quanta Pro Tropic Sun to an XR15 blue at 70% schedule intensity. My initial plan was to run the bar starting for a half hour each day and ramping the time up slowly to around 3-4 hours over the period of one to two months.
- is this feasible or should I start with less photo period for the bar? It seems fairly bright (I'd estimate an additional 100-125 par) but that's obviously a guesstimate.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated

That’s conservative but it also depends on where in the main lighting photoperiod you’ll be running the supplemental.

I just installed 4 t5 bp with my g5. I started at 2hrs on the t5 two days ago but that’s when the g5 are slowly ramping up so I’m not over lighting everything.

Yeah, makes sense. I was thinking during peak intensity of the Radions. I have heard that T5 are a bit easier to add immediately with less acclimation than LEDS so I'm a little gunshy.

Op how did you programe all of your lights to work together. Just got this exact bar and cant seem to find the best answer when to turn it on.
I have it connected to a Wyze plug programmed to come on daily for about an hour and a half during the peak time of the day (i.e. middle of photoperiod) but when to turn it on depends on what your lighting setup is and your desired effect. The lights aren't programmable but a simple timer would work.

I started out at 30 minutes and added about 15 minutes a week. The lights pack a punch, so i would maybe start with a shorter photoperiod.
