Hi team,
Sorry for the long post but here we go.
I have a 16 month old 10 gallon with mostly Euphylia/LPS and zoas. Everything was going well but I decided to finally get a doser and dose all for reef for some more stability in my tank.
When I started dosing AFR, it started making my skimmer go nuts and bottomed out my nitrates. In order to fix the nitrate issue, I started dosing a bit of Neonitro and broadcast feeding Restor a couple of times a week. After a few days, I accidentally stirred up my sand bed a bit and had a massive cyanobacteria outbreak (i'm sure its cyno, its blood red, in mats on the sand bed, no bubbles, goes away at night). I adjusted the lights, siphoned out some of the cyano and stopped dosing Restor but the cyano kept getting worse. I eventually treated the tank with Chemiclean at about a 75% dose fully following instructions with aeration etc. (skimmer cup off, air stone, power head pointed at surface). After 48 hours I did a 20% water change and added carbon.
Long story short, the chemiclean didn't get rid of any of the cyano and now all my corals look awful. It's been a week since treatment and all my euphylia are majorly deflated/not extending like they used to before the treatment and some have their mouths showing and swolllen. Many of my zoas don't open up like they used to either. Mixromussa is pretty deflated too. I have since done another 20% water change and been running activated carbon full time and UV at night. Also been dosing Micrboacter 7 and neonitro daily.
I don't even care about the cyano at this point. I just want to make sure the corals are ok. Does any one have any theories on what happened and if there is something else I should be doing?
