Advice on equipment

Hey guys looking for some advice as I'm new to the hobby. I'm currently running a 25 nano tank for just a little over a month with 2 small clownfish and firstly was wondering when I should start using the skimmer that came with the tank ? Also in the sump in the middle compartment I have a couple of bio balls and filter floss, is there anything else I should add ? Lastly I have a ReefLED 50 light was wondering if I should start using it or wait until I start putting in corals in a couple of months ?

I would turn the skimmer on.

I would remove the bioballs, they don't really provide any benefit since the rocks are the biofilter of the tank, no need for other bio media. Bio balls can also turn into a detritus trap. Change your filter floss every few days, don't keep it for long or any trapped food in the floss will rot and degrade the water quality.

Personally I don't like looking at a dark tank so I turn my lights on from day one. So its your choice to turn the lights on or leave the tank dark.

Anything other than filter floss I should consider adding in the middle compartment ? I get plenty of light from the outside so its not dark just wondering since there are no corals at least for the next 3 months if there is any reason to turn on the lights

Personally I like to add a bag of activated carbon to my tanks, it cleans the water and removes odors.

If the tank has no corals, then no lights are needed if it gets ambient light, in that case its really personal preference. Like I said, I turn them on from day one, but I know some people leave them off for a few months, it gives time to the rocks to mature to help avoid algae growth. Good luck with your project.
