Advise for setting up tank

I am looking for any advise or tips on seeing up a tank. I set mine up but God if I could remember what I wish I had had or known as I was setting up my tank.

I am looking for any advise or man I wish I had for experienced tank keepers so I make sure i have everything ready for Christmas. I am setting up a tank for so one who has been watching mine going I wish I had one.

Any advise and knowledge will be greatly appreciated.
