AFR burned goni?

Hi I recently uped my afr dosage from 3ml to 10ml since my params were really low and i added a bunch of coral. I normally add this dose into the return pump and it flows overs
my gonis, I didn't realize but I see the tissue slowly turning white and the other goni by the flow is also not opening. All my other goni frags are doing really well and even one of them that has tissue recession is still opening up. I'm going to add the all for reef to the return chamber from now on but I was wondering if a coral is burned in such a way will it continue to die or will it nomrally bounce back. Before and afters

I don't think its possible, I've been dosing AFR into the main tank lately. Assuming you have flow in your tank its not like it should have settled on the goni.

EDIT, I don't see any powerheads in your pic, but IME goni's like good flow, the polyps should sway in the flow.

They do sway in the flow I have flow in the tank from the random flow generator nozzle attachment, I don’t think it settled on the goni but I think it def did blast on top of them, is your tank big? My tanks not that big so when I dosed into the flow I think it did directly flow into them

I also did dose some magnesium/iodine/potassium and manganese onto them so maybe that burned them instead?
Edit: another reason why I think it’s from dosing is cause the tissue recession is from the right side where the flow blows onto them and the left side is untouched by recession

Gonis get ticked off when you look at them wrong lol.

3mL to 10mL is a big jump. For future reference, go slowly with any change either up or down. 3mL --> 5mL (wait 2-3 days and test Alk for AFR). Still low? 5mL --> 7mL (wait a couple of days again and check alk). Keep raising incrementally small amounts until you stabilize. AFR also takes a couple of days for Alk to really respond and stabilize due to it's chemistry. If you are curious about that, there are lots of threads about AFR and it's usage.

Keep an eye on it and back off on the AFR from 10mL all at once. Keep manually testing Alk since that is your primary target with that supplement. Hope that helps some.

Also - AFR is a 1 size fits all supplement based on amounts dosed. No need to dose anything else. You never want to blindly dose anything, trace or majors, without knowing how much is there.
