Power outage is a scary prospect. Good job keeping it all going!

That reminds me. I should test run my generator.

Since Wednesday’s move to the DT for the Harlequin Tusk was cancelled due to the power outage I decided to move him this evening instead. He is in the acclimation box now and is pretty cramped and doesn’t seam comfortable. I’d like him to stay in it at least a day to watch the humu trigger’s reaction to him but i may release him if he doesn’t settle down after a while.

I told my wife I wanted to run to Walmart after dinner to get a colander to move him because I didn’t have a net that was big enough to comfortably get it done. In looking through the utensil isle I found the best one for the job! This thing is a big bowl with a colander that nests in the bowl. The colander makes a great “net” for catching fish then you nest it into the bowl that can have tank water for the move then just lift the colander out of the bowl and put the fish where you want leaving the water behind. I think it would make freshwater dips easier also!

Look who’s out and about! I fed the tank a few minutes ago and the Tusk was brave enough to get a few bites. Since the lights have come on he has gotten more bold by the minute.

Everyone is leaving him be for the most part just a few cases of dominance establishing but no attacks.

Made a trip to Dallas this morning and I stopped in Dallas north aquarium! They have an amazing store!

I purchased a Wyoming white clownfish for $40 (will probably get another) and the largest gold head sleeper goby I’ve seen (like 6.5” to 7”) for $60. I’ll pick them up tomorrow afternoon before we head back home.

Everyone is doing great this morning! Added a bowl of sand for the goby and will start ramping up copper power. I fed them this morning with frozen food soaked in GC+Focus and they are eating.

I like that goby!
Yup, he is massive! I was going to try 2 diamond gobies to keep my sandbed clean and aerated but I think this guy can do it solo. I’ll name him Hans!

I’m not sure where the clowns will end up. I don’t know that they can handle the punishment of being introduced to the 120 at their size so they may go into a different tank once the fish room shed is done.

I like that goby!
I lost the goby 3 days ago in QT. He had been thru GC+Focus soaked food and copper. The day before starting the Prazipro treatment he quit eating and within 5 or 6 days he was gone. He had eaten voraciously since I got him and all of a sudden stopped eating. I started back on the GC and just dosed the water since he wasn’t eating and I didn’t have NFG. Yesterday my NFG arrived (guess I’ll have it for the next round).

On a positive note the clownfish are still eating great but I’ve extended their QT to monitor for any loss of apatite because of the loss of the goby. I think the clowns are pairing. Every now and then when I walk by the QT I see the “clownfish shimmy”. Haven’t seen any aggression between them at all. Hoping for the best

Nothing has really been happening lately with the 120. I did spend a few hours the past couple days cleaning my filter mesh, glass, and brushed the fake Reef a little. It got it looking a little better. Oh, also picked all the clam shells out of the sand bed.

Here’s a couple of pics from the Wyze camera from earlier today:

Everyone is still doing good and getting along. Blennies are constantly spawning. Just need to get my fish room build finished so I have room to experiment with raising the fry.

Here is a link to my fish room build thread:

how is your current marine stuff working?
My powerheads have failed. The light is still fading on and off but I can't adjust the controller anymore. It won't take commands. I'm pretty disappointed.

No issues with any of it yet. I use the remote to turn the power heads off sometimes when feeding and it works. I also turn the lights on before the on time (occasionally) and then use the resume function and it’s fine. I haven’t changed my timer, color, or intensity settings since getting them set in the beginning but everything else I’ve done works.

Could salt spray have affected the control boxes?

Yesterday I moved my clowns from the QT tank to the acclimation box inside the 120. They will be living there until the fish room is finished.

Now I’m thinking of what to add to the QT next. I am needing some movement on the bottom of the tank. Also wanting something that stirs or sifts the sand keeping it aerated.

Potentials:
Diamond goby
Bella goby
Gold head goby
Lantern bass trio or more
Goatfish
Chalk bass trio or more
Harlequin bass

I’ve also been thinking about doing a trio of yellow tangs for that vibrant yellow color.

Anybody want to give opinions on these options or others?

I had a Harlequin Bass that I loved--very under appreciated fish in my opinion-- but I didn't have him long before I lost him to Marine Velvet. (Had to nuke the whole FOWLR tank, and never did get around to replacing him.) PS: May the 'skimmer neck cleaner Genii' visit you soon. ;)

I wanted a trio of yellow tangs in the 120 so I ordered 4 in case I lost one of them. A week and a half in and all 4 are doing great! A little aggression with the tight quarters but much less with the lights out. I only turn lights on to observe and feed and the rest of the time is only ambient lighting.
