AI Axis 40 in Fluval Evo

I currently have sicce 1.0 with y 1/4 inch rfg. Trying to increase flow. Want to keep the viewing area clear of wires. Anyone used axis 40 in evo? If so how did the sup handle the flow rate? Any other stronger pump recommendations that will fit the compartment? Thanks

I am currently running the Axis 40 with a Y RFG and it has plenty of flow set at 70%. You will need to get different tubing. Stock tubing wont fit the smallest fitting that comes with the pump.

How did you upgrade the tubing and make it fit with the stock 90 degree elbow attachment that leads to the main tank? (If that made sense).

I'm running into a similar issue trying to upgrade my pump to work better with a 1/2 inch single RFG. There's not enough space to run tubing AND multiple adapters.

I went up in tubing and used zip ties to hold it in place. The 5/8's tubing I had around for a canister filter slips over the fitting and the zip tie works like a band clamp. Running at 70% and no issues or leaking.

Hey OP. I'm contemplating the same. I had an Axis 40 (in a biocube though). The controller died, and I'm wondering if I should replace it with a Sicce 1.0 or buy a copy of Axis 40 (the TMC1500).

Wondering if you went ahead with the Axis? Which is quieter - the old Sicce or the Axis?

I restarted my evo 13.5 and upgraded the pump from an Eheim Compacon 1000 to an AI Axis 40. The Eheim was a great pump, used it in this tank for years. Just wanted more flow. Looking around, the Axis 40 looked like the most powerful pump I could fit in the back. I haven't used a Sicce 1.0, but it's pretty much the exact same size as the Eheim. So I was stoked that the Axis 40 just drops right it, and didn't have to fight with the tank to get it past the protrusion in the 3rd chamber. Like mentioned before, you will need to either get a different pump nozzle or hose to connect it, the included barb is to big for the stock tubing.

You could run the pump at 100% with a double random flow nozzle setup, but in my tank there were flow dead spots doing that. You could probably do some adjusting to the nozzles and get better results. But I don't think just that pump would be enough for SPS corals. I plan on a mixed reef, so I put a Nero 3 on the back wall, about an inch under the return nozzles set it to a max of 50%, and the pump at 50%. Cant really see the wire coming out the back, no dead spots, dead quiet. The tank has a pair of baby black ice clowns, so when they get bigger, I know I'll be turning up the flow to accommodate SPS.
