AI Led or T5?

So I was really interested in getting two of the Aqua Illumination LED fixtures and I am currently running a four bulb T5 fixture on my current 60 gallon anemone tank. But I need help in choosing whether I should go with it or not? Help me choose. Thanks!

I run 2 AI sol whites. I have had them over a yr sol blue were not out yet. I made a diy 26 bulb royal blue array and added to it so running 74 leds over the 60 and loving it. My Nem sits right up top and gets pounded by the leds and loves it.

Another vote for the AI's - You won't be able to get this type of PAR from 4 T5s...

I really love the AI's. I have a single module that I've been playing with. My only problem with them is that they simply don't pop certain colors, it's totally missing the color that my fiji purple bulb produces.

The good thing is that you can replace the pucks in the fixture, so when they do come out with a purple LED, you can simply add that to your module.

I really love the AI's. I have a single module that I've been playing with. My only problem with them is that they simply don't pop certain colors, it's totally missing the color that my fiji purple bulb produces.

I've also struggled with some coloration (ORA Planet Red has been my challenge piece.) I like many LED converts initially bleached just about everything in my tank (as visible in the above PAR photo.) Over a period of many months of testing different coloration and PAR settings I began to suspect my problem was not entirely related to PAR, but rather nutrients. I had been experimenting with Bacteria and Carbon dosing (MB-7 and Vinegar.) What I've found is that corals that are mainly autotrophic (ULNS, fed primarily via light/zooxanthellae), seem to be more subject to bleaching at lower PAR settings than those autotrophic (prey capture.) I've significantly increased the amount of available food (and supplemental AAs) and am beginning to see increases in coloration.

My results aren't scientific, and it's still too early to claim success, but I'm very excited about the trend :)

What issues have you had with the Red Planet? Mine looks fine under DIY LEDs.

You can not beat the LED for par and efficiency. I have a DIY cree system over my biocube 29. I also have the same problem with my ORA red planet it is now pink and white, but it grows fast. It was much better looking under my t5 combo, I am in the process of setting up a 50 breeder and I am going back to t5s just to maximize the color availability. I have several other corals that don't look nearly as good under the LEDs but that's just personnel preference.

Most leds would benefit with the use of warm whites also. It would hit the spectrum that would help bring out the reds.

Pretty sure that NWs do about the same job, with a 2:1 RB:NW ratio and end up putting out more par (less RBs needed) than equal emitter set-ups.

I personally like both types of lights but currently runnin t5 and love the light combination 3 blue plus 2 fiji purple nothing wrong with led jus prefer t5

I just replaced 2x250w MH and 2x140w VHO with two AI Sol Blues. My power consumption went from 780 watts down to 67 watts at 55% intensity and the colors are great and so adjustable. You can individually control each color, white, blue and royal blue to suit your tastes.
