Hi All I have my prime set to the BRS recommended setting but talking to my LFS today he says my UV setting is too high. I have a red sea 170 with the ai16hd. He was saying that high is ok for SPS but not LPS. But I see most peoples settings here are 100%+ I dont have my numbers in front of me but it was approx:
160 uv
160 violet
125 royal
125 blue
He wants me to drop the UV to around 20.
What is your take on this?
Again running lps .. no sps. The reason this even came up today was I have cloudy water and have basically for the whole 3 months the tank has been up. He didnt contribute the high UV to that, but to the window next to my tank :( So keeping the window closed for a couple days and see if that fixes it. I was worried about the window when I setup the tank but its a really nice spot.

As for cloudy water, do you happen to have a clean up crew? Sometimes it happens if a tank has a lot of food leftover breaking down. Hazy non green water is usually a bacterial bloom.

I run my uv at 105% for 5 hours then ramp down. I have lps and softies no problems so far.
