Have had a frag observation tank setup for a couple of months now with some misc cheap frags I have picked up. Using it to check coral for pests and make sure they are good before they go into my new display that I have had up and settling in for 3 months with fish only.

I have taken a look at these frags daily since I got them and never noticed this but I wanted to confirm that what I am seeing is an Aiptasia. I have somehow lucked out from dealing with these guys in my previous tanks so if it is any help is best way to clear them out would be great.

I have read superglue or take out the frag and scrub it off but since it is coming from the coral skeleton I want to make sure I get them completely cleared out before I move it into my display.

Thanks

Looks like an aiptasia to me. Hard to say 100% from that distance in that lighting. In my opinion, as painful as it is to throw away money, if it is confirmed aiptasia, I would toss that frag. A single aiptasia on a porous ridged coral skeleton like that is going to be a master of hiding and poking back out no matter the treatment.

I turned off all the blues and did my best at getting some better images. I actually see two on there through these pictures. This side of the frag is the only side with the Skelton exposed. Would cutting back the frag a little bit to remove that skeleton or a small part of the entire frag to remove that entire side of the frag then add some glue on the exposed Skeleton after the cut be an option?
