Hi everyone. New to the forum and looking for some advice.

Found these little guys on my live rock after I completed an emergency tear down due to a leaking RS 350. I thought they might be Aiptasia, but they were in a cave, in the shadows and tentacles are short. They are currently in the "tide pool", my temporary rock bucket, so they are facing up. I have not added anything to this tank in years. I think there is at least one more on a different rock.

Is there anything that looks like Aiptasia that's happy in the darker areas of the tank?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

That's some sort of "pest" anemone, yes (not sure what kind though, sorry), and yes, there are a number of them that would do fine in shaded conditions.

Thanks for the ID. At least treating in the bucket will be easier than in the new tank.
