So I have a hood and stand made from a wind crate on my aquarium. I have removed the back, sealed and painted the inside of it but am still getting a little mold and mildew from condensation. I am thinking about adding a 60mm to increase air flow and hopefully dry up the inside of the hood.
I have 2 positions in mind. either cut a hole in the top and put a grate over the fan or hang it in the back. I am leaning towards the back as it will be completely out of site. The next though is should it blow air into the hood or vent it out? Not sure it even matters but wanted some thoughts from you all.
Thanks for the input
Jim

I cut a hole in the top of mine, and put a very quiet computer fan in mine blowing up and out. That was in the days of high wattage mh bulbs.

I recently restarted the tank with the same hood, no fan, and led lights. Seems fine so far.

I am running an AI blade so heat is not my problem, just the condensation. I have considered reducing the temp in the aquarium a little, it is currently at 78°.

I understand. I’m using blades too. But the air in the hood is still warmer than the room, hence the reason to put the outflow vent in the top.

I used a circular drill bit to cut a hole slightly smaller than my electronics fan. My light fixtures feel cooler blowing air into the canopy, so that’s the way I do it.
