Folks --

Looking to modify the Tetra Whisper Air pump so that I can suck in outside fresh air and bubble at night. Right now I have the pump outside, which will not be a long term solution. Anyone have any instructions or a video on modifying the pump to pull in fresh air from outside and pump that air back into the airstone in my sump.

I see there is what appears to be a filter underneath.

If no one has already, I'll start surgery on the pump over the weekend.

Thanks,
Tom

These are rated for outdoor duty

luft-pump-air-coralife-tetra

Coralife Luft Pump – Originally a Tetra product, the legendary Luft Pump has been made in the USA and sold under the Coralife brand for many years now. The need for pressurized air may have diminished in the aquarium hobby in recent years, but if you have a need for a very strong, reliable aquarium air pump, you can’t do much better than the Luft Pump.

Curious how you solved this issue? I'm debating the same...

The easiest thing to do is get an air pump that already has a hose barb for the intake air.

A piston pump will also last a lot longer than a diaphragm pump, and is easy to rebuild if it does die.
