Having both chemi elite and carbon as media .
I’ve removed the carbon . I’ll try heavier feeding and test for a few days to see if that changes anything .
If I am still exporting more than what’s going in I might have to consider something else ?

The only thing that’s changed in the last few weeks is 1) I adjusted the lights 1.5” closer
And 2 I added a few pieces of dry rock I cured In a bucket of saltwater for a few weeks

Do you have any algae filtration? If so, I would remove a ton of it, or if you have a scrubber, turn the lights off for a while. Algae is really good at lowering nitrate.

Nothing !!!!

Activated carbon in a bag In the sump ,and another smaller bag with chemi elite

the Mrc skimmer is rated for 300 gal but with a mag 18 pump .
I hooked it up to a jeabo dc-9000 pump as I couldn’t get the mag 18 to make any bubbles .
I feed mostly purple algae as all the fish were tangs and foxface until about 2 weeks ago added a yellow flanked wrasse , hawk fish and 2 scribbled damsels

In that case, it’s probably best to dose nitrates
I removed the large bag of carbon .
and increased feeding amount .
I’ll see what that does .
It’s weird , I’ve never had low nitrates

never below 40ppm
And have had reef tanks for many years
