I pick this reactor up from a friend of mine, could I DIY this into a algae reactor?

That’s my question, I have seen some use the led wrap lights, would that work?

Yes and for light, I would use LED string from amazon.
For Light spill, I would buy this to "cover almost all of it:(depends on height and width of the reactor). Makes a great sleeve. A little DIY though. $9.00 Home Depot

Remember that not all lights are created equal so be intentional when you pick the LED wrap lights.

Looks like a Zeovit reactor - guess you could shake the chaeto manually :P

Another great light option could be 1ft Bridgelux EB Gen 2 light strips. They are dirt cheap, very efficient and runs cool enough to be simply taped down; do need a cheap LED driver and some wiring to use however.
